Transmedia: Building Sustainable IP in Games and Beyond
This roundtable will explore how to build, license, and expand iconic IP franchises with long-term sustainability in an evolving gaming and entertainment landscape. A key focus will be transmedia strategy — extending game worlds into film, TV, books, and beyond to deepen engagement and grow fandom, while avoiding dilution or loss of creative integrity. The discussion will cover the opportunities and challenges of creating games based on established franchises, and the creative partnerships between game makers, Hollywood, and fans that help make IP truly evergreen. We’ll consider what kinds of IPs have the narrative depth, design innovation, and community strength to thrive across media and markets, as well as strategies for reviving legacy franchises successfully. Additional topics will include how game IPs stay visible in crowded ecosystems and how to build player-centric relationships that drive lasting cultural impact.
